• Italian research ship going from new zealand to antarctica every austral summer once or twice is ready to deploy instruments for other groups. also, on the route italy-new zealand and viceversa (going south in nov-dic every year, coming back to italy in march every year, the route is through the indian ocean). Technical personnel typically available.
• UK British Antarctic Survey (BAS) research ships possibly available. If the instrument can be deployed without specialist staff or equipment and as long as they would not delay ships greatly (presumably less than one hour for a deployment) or divert them from their regular routes, BAS would see no difficulty. However, clearance is needed with the relevant authorities at BAS. Area where BAS has special interest: Southern Weddell Sea, the Scotia Sea , around South Georgia and the Bellingshausen Sea. Typical route: UK (Grimsby, Portsmouth: October), Uruguay (Montevideo: November), Falklands, Signy, South Georgia, Halley (December). Return voyage April-May: South Georgia, Flalklands, Montevideo, UK.Other route September-November: Grimsby, Ascention, Montevideo, Falklands, South Gerogia, Signy. Return voyage April-June: Falklands, Montevideo, UK.
